Aston Martin has announced that Lance Stroll will miss the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix due to ongoing pain in his hand and wrist, a lingering issue from a 2023 procedure. The Canadian driver, who has been a key contributor to the team’s championship points this season, was slated to start from 14th on the grid in Barcelona. After medical evaluations, Stroll has been advised to prioritize recovery and undergo further treatment, ruling him out of the race. This setback is a blow for Aston Martin, as Stroll’s consistent performances have been instrumental in securing all 14 of their points in the 2025 Constructors’ Championship to date.

Will anyone take his place and get a chance to join the race ? Unfortunately, Aston Martin will not field a replacement driver for Stroll in the Spanish Grand Prix, as Formula 1 regulations stipulate that only drivers who participated in qualifying are eligible to race. Despite speculation on X suggesting that reserve driver Felipe Drugovich might step in, no official confirmation has been made by the team or Formula 1 authorities. As a result, Fernando Alonso will be the sole Aston Martin representative on the grid, leaving the team to navigate the race weekend with a single car. Stroll is expected to focus on rehabilitation in hopes of returning for the next race.
